See Dua Lipa’s Iridescent New Year’s Eve Look Involving Visible Underwear

Dua Lipa’s New Year’s Eve look exemplifies why she was one of 2022’s biggest style stars.

the Future Nostalgia the singer shared her first Instagram post of the new year this morning, with a slideshow of pics from last night’s festivities. To ring in the new year at a private party with friends, the pop star chose a glittering look from Ludovic de Saint Sernin’s spring 2023 collection which included an eye-catching use of the visible underwear trend.

Lipa styled the iridescent, crystal-covered mini dress—which included a high, side-baring neckline, a backless silhouette with crisscross straps, and asymmetrical hem—with a bright white thong that peeked out from a cutout on the back of the skirt. She finished the look with knee-high, pointed-toe boots in a bright magenta shade, as well as accessories including a diamond tennis bracelet and star-shaped chandelier earrings.

As for her beauty look, the star wore matching iridescent eyeshadow, shimmering highlighter, rosy blush, and a dark nude lip, with her hair pulled back in a high ponytail.

“2023 ~ Happy New Year ~ wishing you peace, love, health and happiness for this year ahead x,” she captioned the post.

The “Levitating” singer has shared her experimental street-style looks throughout the year, as she’s pushed the boundaries of both sartorial norms and celeb-loved trends in looks including a bold leather cutout gown, a cartoonish sheer netted dress, pierced UGGs, and denim pantaboots.

Lipa previously opened up about her playful style in a 2018 interview with Refinery29.

“I’ve never really wanted to put myself in a box and say, ‘This is my style and these are my style staples.’ I love to experiment and play around,” she said. “It’s kind of like music: The sound doesn’t just include the face of the artist. And the artist should wear the clothes, not the other way around. Fashion can’t be forced.”
